Supported file formats and recovery limits

AEDOC currently diagnoses and attempts recovery for these Microsoft Word and Excel files, up to 1 GiB (1,073,741,824 bytes).

Word documents and templates

.docx, .docm, .dotx, and .dotm.

Excel workbooks and templates

.xlsx, .xlsm, .xltx, .xltm, and .xlsb. XLSB repair coverage is narrower and does not include a public cell preview.

Current exclusions and limits

Legacy .doc and .xls, PowerPoint, PDF, and encrypted files are not supported. Macro-enabled packages may retain their VBA bytes, but AEDOC never executes macros and does not validate macro behavior or digital signatures.

Some files within the upload size limit may still exceed safe processing limits, such as expanded content or runtime limits. A diagnosis may therefore end without a recoverable file. AEDOC does not claim to reconstruct content that is truly missing.

Privacy and payment

Sign-in restricts access to your recoveries. Each job shows its expiry time and can be deleted earlier. Diagnosis is free within your account allowance. A $14.99 USD Rescue Pass before applicable tax is offered only when a recoverable result is ready.
